Gabrielle was born in Poteidaia but was unhappy with her life. When Xena saved her from slavers she snuck away in the night to follow her.

At Higher Levels

At higher levels, Gabrielle may choose to take the Dual Wielder feat and the Martial Adept feat to gain combat maneuvers like disarming attack and trip attack.

Tips on playing Gabrielle

If Gabrielle is higher in the initiative order than Xena, she should cast Heroism on Xena at the beginning of the fight. Otherwise, she can hang back casting healing word on Xena, and vicious mockery or dissonant whispers on their opponents. She’ll use her staff if an opponent gets too close.
